Tofino + Mission = Berlin

Cedar Island contributed to the Berlinale Series opener, epic pan-European THE SWARM and the Generation section's WHEN WILL IT BE AGAIN LIKE IT NEVER WAS BEFORE.

Principal Henrik Meyer will be in Berlin to attend the European Film Market (EFM) and the Berlinale from Feb. 16th to 22nd: "Even if it was only the small Canadian units for those two big European productions, we're very proud to bring the best of British Columbia to Berlin. One of the main storylines in THE SWARM is set in BC, which we shot on location in Tofino and Vancouver. For WHEN, we helped to create the 1980s U.S. in Mission, BC."

WHEN WILL IT BE AGAIN LIKE IT NEVER WAS BEFORE is a production by Komplizen Film (Toni Erdmann, Spencer, Corsage) and Warner Bros. Germany, directed by Sonja Heiss and based on Joachim Meyerhoff's best-selling novel. It will premiere in the Generation 14+ program of this year's Berlinale. THE SWARM (8x45min) is a production by Intaglio and ndF for ZDF, France Télévisions, RAI, Viaplay, Hulu Japan. ORF, SRF, and Beta. Based on Frank Schätzing's international bestseller and created by Frank Doelger (Game of Thrones).

Besides producing award-winning documentaries, Cedar Island also offers service productions on urban and very remote locations in British Columbia and the Yukon. Another mission for Berlin is to add European co-producers to their feature co-pro LOYA with Ontario's Kybele Films and Turkey's Liman Films, and push scripted series forward, including CONTAINMENT with Bavaria Fiction and BORN TO BE WILD with Marie Clements Media, Rezolution Pictures and Constantin Television. Last but nor least, Cedar Island is always interested to hear about co-pro possibilities!
