Andrew co-founded Cedar Island Films together Henrik Meyer in 2018. They’ve produced THE MAGNITUDE OF ALL THINGS (NFB/TELUS/TELEFILM) by Jennifer Abbott (The Corporation) which won Best Canadian Feature Award at Planet in Focus and screened at RIDM (Montreal) and IDFA 2020 (Amsterdam), the world’s biggest documentary festival. The film also screened as part of COP 26 in Glasgow, Scotland. VIFF programmer Tammy Bannister called the film “Perhaps the most visceral call to action for humanity since An Inconvenient Truth” and Doc Weekly praised it as “One of the Top 10 documentaries coming out in 2021”.
Andrew recently produced the official Canadian/German feature doc co-production THE WHALE AND THE RAVEN (NFB & ZDF/ARTE) which opened DOK.fest Munich 2019, won several awards and is still screening at film festivals internationally. It had its theatrical release in Canada and was released on over 40 screens in Germany. The “majestic and introspective” film (POV Magazine) is available on Amazon Prime Video.
Prior to Cedar Island Films, Andrew executive produced the award-winning doc series EMERGENCY ROOM: LIFE & DEATH AT VGH for The Knowledge Network/ Discovery, HIGH MOON for Universal Cable Productions and Executive Producer Bryan Fuller and GASTOWN GAMBLE for the OWN Network.
Andrew is currently on the board of the CMPA – BC Branch, the Film Advisory Board of Langara University and volunteers with various environment organizations tackling climate change.
