The Swarm wraps 2nd unit shoot in Canada

Cedar Island is happy to just have wrapped the shoot of the Canada unit for epic European television series The Swarm on locations in and around Tofino as well as Vancouver.

Based on German bestselling novel The Swarm by Frank Schätzing, the eight-part series chronicles the struggle of humankind against an unknown swarm intelligence that lives in the depths of the sea. When the reckless treatment of the oceans threatens the natural habitat of this mysterious collective, it strikes back.

Multi-Emmy Award-winning Frank Doelger (Game of Thrones) and Academy Award-Nominated Mark Huffam (The Martian, House of Gucci) lead as Executive Producers alongside Eric Welbers and Friedemann Goez (Hudson and Rex). A production of Intaglio Films and ndF International Productions for Germany’s ZDF, France Télévisions and Italy’s Rai alongside Austria’s ORF, Switzerland’s SRF, Scandinavia’s Nordic Entertainment Group and Hulu Japan. ZDF Enterprises and Beta Film are handling worldwide sales.

The international cast ensemble includes Cécile de France (The New Pope), Alexander Karim (The Lawyer), Leonie Benesch (Babylon Berlin, The Crown), Barbara Sukowa (Hannah Arendt), Takuya Kimura (2046, I Come With the Rain), Krista Kosonen (Blade Runner 2049), Rosabell Laurenti Sellers (Game of Thrones), Takehiro Hira (Giri/Haji), and Canada’s Joshua Odjick (Unsettled).

The Swarm is an immensely prolific project with an enormously timely message, which Cedar Island is very proud of having been a small part of. Watch for further announcements in the trades.
